  1. Hurricane season always brings an increase in sales for larger stores like Walmart, public, and Home Depot as people decide to stalk up on essentials. I grew up in Jacksonville Beach and every hurricane season, my family would put together a hurricane starter pack by buying new batteries, extra ponchos, canned food, sand bags, and other stuff to prepare for the worst case scenario. However, we've barely used any of the stuff, but every year we buy it again.

  2. I think that the traffic problem in Gainesville is definitely something that needs to be addressed. Hurricane season is also something that is really concerning because the past few years Gainesville has had some really strong storms just miss the city and this could be the year that Gainesville gets hit. Citizens need to be prepared. The gun story is the most interesting one to me because I think the lawsuit is valid and cities local governments should be able to regulate their gun laws according to what they want.

  3. It's terrible that people still think it's okay to drive while under the influence. With options, such as uber, lyft, and even car pooling, you'd expect others to think twice before getting behind a wheel. Thankfully nobody was hurt by the High Springs woman, but she definitely was putting herself and others in danger. AlertGNV looks like it would be a handy resource for students because as young adults we don't tend to be as cautious as our parents. This seems like a good way to remind college students of the importance of their safety and to always take precaution in a situation such as a hurricane.
